There are many variations of systems and methods involved in house training a puppy but some involve considerable time and inconvenience.
Crate training is one of the most popular methods and is a good example of how a system can be taught correctly or incorrectly. Crate training by itself will house train your puppy, although some of the books and courses available on house training a puppy make it a very time consuming process.
If you are able to honestly answer yes to these questions, then it is possible to learn how to house train a puppy, and be able to successfully train your dog in other areas of skill and obedience. Here are my five steps on how to house train a puppy when you’re working:
1) Plan everything with military precision, right down to the time of year you get your dog. Bring her home during the summer months, so that you are not inclined to rush the outside toilet time.
2) Bring your new puppy home during a period When your working life be less hectic – ideally when you have a couple of weeks holiday. That would be most ideal, as puppy house training can be completed in just a couple of weeks when done properly.
3) If you cannot get time off, plan it so that your older kids are off school so they can help with the training while you are out at work.
You know how to stop puppy biting most of the time…but sometimes there are difficult cases. If your puppy doesn’t stop biting when you say “ouch,” you have to ignore the puppy so it knows it did something wrong. Say nothing, get up, ignore him for approximately thirty seconds, and then go back and do the whole thing over again. Using the “ouch!” method does not mean your pup will never mouth you again, but it does mean that gradually his biting will occur less and become softer.
The longer you let your puppies behavior problems go without learning how to stop puppy biting, the further your control of the puppy slips away from you. Don’t waste any time when it comes to the puppy you love.
